Kenai is located on the Kenai Peninsula near the Kenai River. There is abundant wildlife viewing and world-class hunting and fishing in this area and other parts of the Cook Inlet.
There are the Dena’ina Athabascan People and a few Alaskan Native Tribes in the area such as the Kenaitze & Ninilchik Tribes as well as a history of Russian settlers. There is a population of over 7,000 in an area just under 30 square miles.
Kenai’s primary economy comes from oil and gas found primarily in the Cook Inlet, commercial fishing, sports fishing, subsistence fishing, tourism, and all of the supporting businesses that help support the vast logistics of the resources.
Kenai is centrally located about 3 hours drive from Anchorage, near Seward, on the way to Homer, between Soldotna and Nikiski.
Kenai has it’s own airport operated by the City of Kenai and there are many flights in and out of Kenai daily.
Kenai has a diverse local population which people of all ages can enjoy during the summer and winter.
